As part of Sydney Writer’s Festival, Australian Poetry Slam Youth hosts the best young wordsmiths from all around Sydney battle it out for the title of 2019 APS Youth Sydney Champion.
Young poets are voted by audiences from slams in Northern Beaches, Casula and Fairfield to converge on the APS Youth - Sydney Final stage.
Spitting stories, monologues, raps, rants and poems on stage, each performer has just two minutes to wow the crowd. No props, costumes or music – just a young writer sharing their raw truth to an audience of clicking fingers.
Hosted by NSW Poetry Slam Champion Pola Fanous and featuring 2018 Rumble Youth Slam Champion Helen Latukefu.
The champion of the night will feature at the 2019 APS National Final at Sydney Opera House, and the top three scoring poets will receive a one-on-one session with HEAPS DECENT, a collective of Australian songwriters, musicians and producers, to workshop ideas for their own lyrics and music.
