John West Poetry Cup
The estate of the late Melbourne poet John West manages a fund to encourage and reward young poets, both in writing and performance. The John West Poetry Cup ($400 first prize, $100 runner up) is open to anyone aged 10 to 18 years, performing one poem (maximum 2 minutes) on any theme or subject.
Wordworks
Wordworks is an open mic opportunity for local and visiting poets. Sign on for readings is 3:30pm on Sunday 10 August at Bangalow Bowling Club with readings starting at 4:00pm. The facilitator is David Hallett and entry is free. Wordworks will also feature a performance by Rachael Williams, NSW Champion of 2024 Australian Poetry Slam.
