The stage is set as the Australian Poetry Slam – Mparntwe and Central Australia return, supporting the region's raw talent and vibrant stories come to life.

Are you the next Australian Poetry Slam Champion? All you need is an original poem and two minutes on the mic. If you prefer to shine from the audience, join us to listen, cheer, snap your fingers and hold-up scorecards in this national celebration of spoken-wordsmiths.

Whether you’re performing as a poet or supporting local wordsmiths from the crowd – this is the place to be. A poetry slam is a place for all voices. It’s APS 2025 – The Election Special.

There are two rounds in this event: the first is the Mparntwe Heat and the second is the Central Australia Final where winners compete for a spot at the National Final.

Want to get inspired with a spoken word workshop led by a professional slam poet? In the lead-up to the Mparntwe Heat & Central Australian Final Laurie May and Andrew Cox will host two dynamic poetry workshops. A Writing for Stage Workshop with Laurie May and a Poetry Workshop with Andrew Cox.
