As part of the Third I Festival, join us for the second night of Word Travels Story Dinners, celebrating the rich traditions and voices of First Nations peoples of Australia.
Can a meal be a memory? Can a single taste or smell transport you to another time, another place? At this intimate dinner, food becomes a portal—drawing you into stories of journeys, discovery and connection.
The evening features storyteller Kirsten Booker, whose work is deeply grounded in her Dunghutti heritage; guest poet Jaala Hallett, a Dunghutti and Gumbaynggirr poet and arts producer, whose work explores relationships to land, culture, body and community; and guest storyteller Rob Waters, poet and Australian Poetry Slam Champion, whose powerful performances are rooted in culture, education, and activism.
Each guest will explore the prompt “A smell, a taste, a journey”, sharing a story of their first meal and the paths it opened—where it started, where it carried them, or where it continues to take them.
Come taste, remember and be transported.
HOST: Kirsten Booker
