Tristan Barnett (known as “The Baron”) holds a PhD in tennis statistics from Swinburne University. While travelling by Greyhound bus from Melbourne to Darwin in 2024, he expanded his craft into poetry and performance.

Blending humour, satire and wordplay with sharp references to many topics including tennis (natually!), politics, mathematics and travel; Tristan’s poetry showcases a playful yet analytical voice. This body of work began with The Minuscule Ant, a piece performed in various settings, including churches, often delivered with a tone resembling prayer.

Tristan’s performances include `France Got Talent’, Sydney Writers Festival, Willoughby Literary Festival and `Save Wallum’ Poetry Slam Brunswick Heads Picture House, where for the latter Tristan was invited by the comperes Big Nelly and Dim Sim following the performance for a 22-minute interview on `Roadtrip’ BayFM community radio.
