Story Week 2026 asks: Whatcha got?
This year Word Travels is not just asking for your stories. We want to amplify your activities. Are you running a poetry slam, a storytelling event, a literary diamond in the vast quarry of Australian venues? We want to celebrate your wild (or tame) gathering in a national calendar during Story Week: 9–25 October 2026.
PAST EVENTS
Story Week – Grow Deeper
Story Week asks what stories are we telling now, how, why, when and where? We meet people where they are. Simply asking people during one week a year to host spaces for stories and make this your community’s focus.
Featuring Australian Poetry Slam Finals in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.
Story Week is Common-Unity.
Story Week innovates the ways we tell stories finding a common unity. People are sharing: some slam in big rooms, some yarn in dining rooms. Not celebrities. We close the distance between artist and audience, exchange stories in new intimate ways.
Featuring Australian Poetry Slam Finals in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.
Knowing how to speak your words is essential and adds to your professional development, how you market your work and build your confidence.
